Hi, I’m Wayne [he/him], a creative and results-driven Product Designer with over 17 years of experience. I’m passionate about creating human-centred solutions by combining clever technology and beautiful design, ensuring business success and user satisfaction.
I have always been engaged in all aspects of the product design process, from early exploration and research, through to ideation, implementation and final rollout. I am currently in the fortunate position of being both a manager and a hands-on designer. Both aspects give me a lot of enjoyment and reward.
As a design leader, my objectives are to ensure there is a clear strategic direction and vision for the design of the product. As well as ensuring that my team have all the support, direction and feedback they need to do their best work and be successful.
Creating products is a team sport, so it is important to have shared values in order to play well together and create great products. When working in or managing a team, I value: Collaboration - working together and sharing ideas as a team always leads to stronger outcomes. Feedback - feedback is critical to a product's success; feedback done right is also critical to each other's growth and success. Diversity - the more diversity of thought, experiences and culture a team has, the richer the outcome. Respect - the foundation for creating a safe space for ideas and teams to flourish. Having fun! - a team that laughs together works hard together and has fun while doing it.

I was born and raised in South Africa. After finishing Uni I moved to the UK for 12 years before finding my home in Australia 8 years ago. Each place has contributed to my growth, both as a person and as a designer.
I live in Sydney with my partner Ryan and our little furball Alfie - a stubborn but lovable Westie. I spend most of my free time getting my hands dirty with gardening, cooking or trying out a new craft project. I enjoy the ability to explore my creativity in diverse ways and love the physical nature of crafts, especially after spending so much time in front of a screen all week.
When I just want to relax and escape, I love to indulge in a good movie or tv series - especially in the genres of sci-fi, fantasy, thrillers and comedy, along with quirky indie movies. Reading is also another enjoyment of mine, especially fiction. I love how it expands your imagination and takes you to worlds that are truly unique. You can check out my reading list on Goodreads.
While I consider myself very much a homebody, I relish the opportunity to travel whenever possible. Experiencing different cultures and landscapes enriches my perspective. Plus, trying new foods is always a big highlight when I travel!
